Hyundai Motor India’s entry-level SUV, the Exter, was honoured with multiple important prizes at Design India’s Best Design prizes 2023. The Exter was named ‘India’s Best Design Project,’ while the Hyundai Advanced Design India team was named ‘India’s Best In-House Studio.’

Chohee Park, Head of Department at HMIE Hyundai Advanced Design India, expressed gratitude for the award, praising the joint efforts of the global design team and the dedicated India design team. Their key goal was to grasp the desires of the country’s Gen MZ buyers and rethink the Hyundai SUV lifestyle.
The Exter follows Hyundai’s Global Design Identity of ‘Sensuous Sportiness,’ with the goal of creating an innovative yet distinct SUV. It boldly embraces Hyundai’s SUV DNA, with its distinctive exterior design leaving a lasting impression on the road. Both consumers and industry experts have praised the vehicle, confirming Hyundai’s forward-thinking attitude and the team’s dedication.

The Hyundai Exter includes dynamic design elements inspired by outdoor travel. Its daring features capture the essence of a stylish, lifestyle-oriented SUV. The Exter features a commanding front fascia, unmistakable Signature H-LED DRLs, and an endearing personality, delivering an SUV design that exceeds consumer expectations.
The precisely adjusted ergonomics offer optimal rear view for passengers while also improving overall visibility. The Exter’s capabilities and design complement Gen MZ’s active lifestyle, making it an excellent partner for outdoor trips and discovery.

The Exter’s engine, a 1.2L Kappa petrol engine utilised in other Hyundai cars, produces 83hp and 114Nm of torque. The Exter is available in both petrol and CNG versions, with either a manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The CNG version, which uses the same engine, has somewhat lower power numbers of 69hp and 95.2Nm of torque. In terms of efficiency, the CNG type obtains 27.1 km/kg, while the petrol variant achieves 19.4 kmpl.
