Mahindra Thar Goes Electric: First Look at the EV Concept

The Mahindra Thar is the most affordable true 4×4 SUV on the Indian market right now. It’s flying off the shelves, and people adore it for its design, road presence, and off-road skills. Mahindra offers the Thar with both a petrol and a diesel engine. Here’s a rendering of the Thar with an electric drivetrain.

It is vital to note that this is only a portrayal based on the artist’s vision. Mahindra has not disclosed plans for an electrified Thar. According to media sources, they are exploring developing an electric vehicle with a body-on-frame chassis.

The Thar EV’s design language is quite similar to that of the Thar with an internal combustion engine. As a result, the designer was able to retain the essence of the original Thar. The tyres are the first item that anybody notices. They are off-road spec tyres that are significantly larger than the stock Thar. As a result, the wheel arches have been expanded. In the front, there is a bumper guard with a light bar.

The grille has been redesigned; it is now closed because there is no internal combustion engine and hence no requirement for cooling. The headlamps are LED units with built-in LED Daytime Running Lamps. The body is painted grey, and the doors are blacked out. An LED light strip is installed on the roof to illuminate the environment ahead while off-roading.

On the roof, there is a roof rack that can be used to store items. It is a hard top, which means the interior will be protected from the elements. The back is also undeniably Thar. It receives comparable rectangular LED tail lamps. The back bumper is also blacked out, with reflectors and extra lights.

Mahindra Thar EV Launch and Price

As a concept, the production feasibility must be addressed before determining the price and launch date. For the time being, there is no indication on whether the Thar EV concept will be put into production, but more information will be revealed at the August 15 event. Keep an eye out.
