The Indian car market is set to get a major boost in June 2023, with a number of new models scheduled to be launched. Here is a look at some of the most anticipated cars and SUVs that will be hitting the market this month.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny

One of the most eagerly awaited cars of the year, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny is finally set to be launched in India on June 7. The Jimny is a small, rugged SUV that is perfect for off-road adventures. It is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 105hp and 134Nm of torque. The Jimny will be available in both manual and automatic variants.
Volkswagen Virtus

Volkswagen has announced a new Virtus version of their popular sedan. Volkswagen, known for its excellent dynamics and build quality, released improvements to keep the Virtus lineup fresh and enticing. The Virtus powered by the 1.5 TSI engine produces 150hp and 250Nm and was only available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox; however, Volkswagen confirmed that a 6-speed manual option with this engine would be available in June.
Volkswagen Taigun

Volkswagen has updated its famous Taigun SUV in addition to the Virtus. To keep the product fresh, the firm has released new updates. The Taigun comes with two engine choices: a standard 1-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol. Volkswagen supplied a 7-speed DSG gearbox in the top-spec ‘GT Plus’ variant and a 6-speed manual gearbox in the lower-spec ‘GT’ model with the 1.5-litre engine. With the changes, though, both gearbox options will be available with either trim level.
BMW M2

The BMW M2 is a high-performance sports car that will be launched in India on June 21. The M2 is powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 450hp and 550Nm of torque. The M2 is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Honda Elevate

Honda’s new SUV will make its global debut in India on June 6, with pricing expected to be disclosed in August. The SUV, dubbed the Elevate, will be built on the same platform as the current generation Honda City, which means it will have the same 1.5-liter engine with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT.
Since the CR-V was cancelled due to BS6 rules, this would be Honda’s first SUV in India. While the Elevate will not have a diesel engine, it will most likely receive the City’s hybrid system later. The Elevate will compete with the Creta, Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder, and we recently discussed how the Elevate lacks a panoramic sunroof, which is available on its competitors.
Mercedes-AMG SL55

The new seventh generation of the iconic Mercedes SL roadster is making a long-awaited return to the Indian market, having previously been offered as the fifth generation SL in 2012. Mercedes-Benz has decided to reintroduce the SL as the SL55 rather than the SL63, which is already available globally. Mercedes boasts that the SL55’s 469hp, 700Nm twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 and nine-speed torque-converter gearbox will propel it from 0 to 100kph in 3.9 seconds.
These are just a few of the many new cars and SUVs that will be launched in India in June 2023. It is shaping up to be a bumper month for the Indian car market, with a wide range of new models to choose from.
