Good News – Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door Production started

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door has been widely anticipated since its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. Bookings for the Nexa showrooms have opened for a nominal amount of Rs 25,000. Production began on May 10th, with an official launch date of June 2023. According to reports, the company plans to produce 1 lakh units each year, with 66 percent going to domestic sales and the rest going to exports.


The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door is a larger version of the SUV marketed in other markets. It will first be sold in India before heading overseas. The Jimny 5-door, which has a similar design to its predecessor, will continue to demonstrate its capacity to take on the most difficult terrains, as has always been a part of its DNA.

The most noticeable difference between the new Jimny and its three-door predecessor is the inclusion of an extra door and window on either side. As a result of the additional length and weight.

It is built on a ladder frame chassis and comes standard with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro four-wheel drive (4WD). The new Jimny is 3,985mm long, 1,645mm wide, and 1,720mm tall, and it rides on a 2,590mm wheelbase, giving it more road presence.

The ground clearance is 210mm. The Jimny is available in 5 monotones: Nexa Blue, Bluish Black, Granite Grey, Pearl Arctic White, and Sizzling Red, as well as dual tone variants of Sizzling Red and Kinetic Yellow with a contrasting Bluish Black roof.


Interiors and Powertrain Specs of 5 door Jimny 

The interiors are substantially identical to that of the 3-door model. It has a black and silver colour scheme, a multi-layered dashboard, and a 9-inch touchscreen entertainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Suzuki Jimny 5-door is loaded with safety features. There are six airbags in total, along with hill hold assist, hill descent control, brake assist, a rear view camera, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a brake limited slip differential, ABS, and EBD.

New Maruti Jimny  will be powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine with 103 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 134 Nm torque at 4,000 rpm, paired to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearbox. Suzuki’s All Grip Pro four-wheel drive system sends power to all four wheels, and the Jimny 5-door has a low-range transfer box. With the Jimny 5-door being one of Maruti Suzuki’s most anticipated releases, the company is scheduled to disclose prices soon, however estimations place it in the Rs 10-16 lakh bracket. When it is released, the new Jimny will compete in its segment with the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.
