Tata Motors has officially opened bookings for the Altroz CNG for a minimal sum of Rs 21,000 (about). The Altroz CNG was originally seen at Auto Expo 2023 in January, and while price has yet to be disclosed, here are some of the premium hatchback’s features.

Features of Tata Altroz CNG

Tata Motors presently sells 15 different Altroz models. According to a dealer source, six variations may be supplied with CNG, with three of them – the XM+ (S), XZ+ (S), and XZ+ O (S) – receiving a sunroof.

A 7.0-inch touchscreen, digital driver’s display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 16-inch alloy wheels, an engine start/stop button, automatic climate control, a height adjustable driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, rear AC vents, and a front centre armrest are among the other features.

Six airbags, ABS with EBD, and stability control are standard on the Altroz. The Altroz may also be started entirely in CNG mode, as can the Tiago and Tigor CNG variants, while most CNG cars on the market cannot.

Tata Motors has cleverly divided the one CNG tank into two smaller tanks and placed them beneath the floor in the Altroz CNG. This has allowed the boot to retain good utilisation of space, something rivals do not provide. However, due to the tank’s positioning, no spare tyre is provided; instead, a puncture repair kit and an air pump are provided.

About Engine and Transmission

The Altroz is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine connected to a 5-speed manual gearbox; an automated gearbox is not currently available. This engine produces 86hp and 113Nm of torque when running on petrol, and 77hp and 97Nm of torque when running on compressed natural gas. The Tiago and Tigor are said to have a fuel efficiency of 26.49km/kg, and we may expect the Altroz to have similar values.

Tata Motors opened orders for the Altroz CNG last month for a nominal fee of Rs 21,000, with deliveries set to begin in May 2023. It is likely to cost Rs 90,000 more than its petrol-powered version.
