Honda began the year by introducing the facelift Honda City to the Indian market. The introduction of the new sedan represents a significant achievement for the brand because it is the first model in its segment to feature advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Furthermore, the new model assists the brand in establishing itself as a sedan manufacturer in India. It should be noted that the sedan market is battling for consumer attention among models such as the Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and the upcoming 2023 Hyundai Verna.

The 2023 Honda City has a few subtle design changes that make the sedan look a little sharper. Reprofiled front and rear bumpers, a slimmer chrome slat, a sportier-looking honeycomb front grille, new alloy wheels, and a spoiler are among the changes.

Higher variants now include ADAS technology with active safety features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, low-speed follow, lead car departure, blind-spot detection, and more. It is also worth noting that the ADAS technology is available in manual versions. Six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, rain-sensing wipers, ambient lighting, leatherette upholstery, LED headlights, auto-dimming frameless IRVM, leather-wrapped steering, and a soft-touch dashboard are among the other notable features on the facelifted version of the 2023 Honda City sedan.

Engine and Transmission of New Honda city 2023

New Honda city 2023 comes with two engine options that meet the upcoming BS 2 emission standards, as well as E20 fuel. The base 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine continues to produce 120bhp and 145Nm of torque and is available with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission. The hybrid powertrain, on the other hand, is made up of a 97bhp, 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine and a 108bhp electric motor. This hybrid unit is tuned to produce 125bhp of peak power and 253Nm of peak torque when combined.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the petrol-only Honda City equipped with a manual transmission can return a figure of 17.8km/l, while the CVT variant is slightly more efficient at 18.4km/l. The Hybrid model claims to return 27.13km/l.

With the facelifted version of the City sedan, Honda has introduced two new entry-level trim levels, and this strategy has helped the company price the model aggressively while also offering ADAS tech at a lower price point.

The 2023 Honda City sedan is available in four trim levels, including the new entry-level ‘SV’ trim. While the Hybrid powertrain was previously only available in ZX trim, it is now available in three trim levels: V, VX, and ZX.

However, the 2023 Honda City starts at Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and the V trim level with ADAS technology is now priced at Rs 12.37 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
