Mahindra has raised the price of the Thar RWD in India ahead of the implementation of new emission regulations. In fact, the Thar RWD’s price has been raised by Rs 50,000.

However, it is worth noting that Mahindra has only raised the price of the Mahindra Thar RWD SUV equipped with the diesel engine, manual transmission, and a hard top, while the rest of the variants remain unchanged.
In terms of specifics, the diesel variant of the Mahindra Thar LX RWD with a hard top now costs Rs 11.49 lakh after the price increase (ex-showroom, India). As a result, the price difference between the 2WD and 4WD variants is reduced to just 2.67 lakh.
Despite the fact that Mahindra has begun deliveries of the Mahindra Thar RWD in India, the waiting list for the lifestyle SUV is still as long as 18 months. In comparison, demand for Thar RWD with a petrol engine is much lower, and customers can get one in less than 5 weeks.
Mahindra Thar RWD Engine and Transmission

When it comes to the Mahindra Thar RWD, there are two engine options. The diesel engine is a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged unit with 115bhp and 300Nm of peak torque. The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, on the other hand, produces 150bhp and 320Nm of peak torque. Furthermore, the diesel engine is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission, whereas the petrol engine is only available with a 6-speed AT.
The design of the Mahindra Thar RWD is nearly identical to that of the Thar 4X4. In fact, the Mahindra Thar SUV’s new RWD variant has the same tyres and alloy wheels as its 4X4 counterpart. In fact, the RWD retains all of the rugged design elements.
Because many Thar customers do not do much off-roading, the new Mahindra Thar RWD is doing exceptionally well in the Indian automobile market. Furthermore, given the market demand, we do not expect this price increase to have any effect on SUV sales.
