Maruti Suzuki Fronx’s base variant will only be available with a 1.2-litre K12C Dual jet petrol engine and a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx was recently presented at the 2023 Auto Expo, and its coupe-like appearance and luxurious amenities grabbed a lot of attention. However, little was known about the Fronx’s base-spec Sigma model, as only the top-spec Alpha variant was on exhibit at the Auto Expo. A quick glance at Fronx Sigma on NEXA’s official website has provided a few clues about how the base edition of Fronx will look when it arrives.

We can see how the base variant of Fronx appears in the configurator area of NEXA’s website. The new Maruti Suzuki Fronx Sigma, like the Baleno Sigma version, has blacked-out door handles and rearview mirrors. Unlike the Baleno Sigma, the Fronx Sigma has a blacked-out finish on the B- and C-pillars, which keeps it from looking too simple.
The photos show that the Maruti Suzuki Fronx’s base variant has fender-mounted turn indicators and steel wheels. However, at launch, the Fronx Sigma will receive plastic coverings for the steel wheels, which seem exposed in the website’s images. The Fronx Sigma also features projector headlamps with split LED turn indicators, as well as front and rear silver skid plates.

Interior and Powertrain of Maruti Fronx
The standard Maruti Suzuki Fronx lacks a working infotainment system and steering-mounted audio controls, both of which are available from Delta onwards. However, this variation includes automated climate control as standard, which is unusual in vehicles in this class. A twin-pod instrument console with a MID in between, all four power windows, remote central locking, and a 12V power outlet round out the Fronx Sigma’s features.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx’s base variant will only be available with a 1.2-litre K12C Dualjet petrol engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. This engine produces 90 PS and 113 Nm of torque in the Fronx. This engine is also available in the mid-spec Delta and Delta+ models, where an optional 5-speed AMT is available.
Furthermore, the Fronx lineup has an optional 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine in Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha models. This turbocharged petrol engine produces 100 PS and 147 Nm of torque and is available with both a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
