BYD is undoubtedly an EV firm capable of competing with Tesla. BYD (Build Your Dreams) of China is one of the world’s largest EV manufacturers today. Currently, two electric vehicles are available in India Atto 3 and e6 MPV.

Following the successful launch of their first two vehicles, BYD is currently preparing to launch their third vehicle. BYD displayed the Seal electric vehicle at the 2023 Auto Expo. BYD Seal electric is now available on the company’s official India website. Is this a sign that the launch is just around the corner? Let us investigate.

BYD Seal electric goes live on official website

BYD’s Indian website now includes the Seal electric car, as well as the e6 MPV and Atto 3 SUV. There is no indication of a release date or price. We’re hoping it’s a foreshadowing of an impending launch. However, nothing is official as of yet. The headline stats include a 0-100 km/h time of 3.8 seconds, a range of 700 kilometres on a single charge, and the holy grail 50:50 weight distribution.

The BYD Seal has two battery pack options in terms of powertrain. The smaller battery pack has a capacity of 61.4kWh, while the larger battery pack has a capacity of 82.5kWh. While the RWD variant produced 204bhp, the top-spec AWD variant generates 530bhp of peak power and 670Nm of peak torque.

Design features of BYD Seal EV

In terms of design, BYD Seal appears to have drawn influence from the Porsche Taycan. Seal’s LED headlight design and an intriguing air inlet underneath it demonstrate this. LED DRLs in wire-frame shape are featured in this air intake. The bonnet tapers aggressively towards the front and contains power bulges, giving it a sculpted appearance. The lower section of the front bumper houses an air inlet for battery cooling. From the side, it appears to be a sporty four-door coupe sedan with a sloping roofline.

This sloping roofline does not extend all the way to the back of the house. Instead, it concludes significantly sooner, giving BYD Seal a 3-box design attribute. It’s a fascinating detail. Rolls-Royce is fanatical about their 3-box design, which they even used on the Cullinan SUV. Other design elements include elegant alloys and sharp creases that virtually give it a German appearance.

The cabin is dominated by a massive central touchscreen and a broad instrument screen. Quilted designs are applied to the seats and extend to the door pads as well. Unlike Tesla automobiles, the windscreen and roof are separated. BYD Seal, on the other hand, receives a massive glass roof that does not open. The BYD Seal EV has flush door handles and stylish LED tail lamps.

Final words

With the introduction of the BYD Seal, the Chinese automaker will not only increase its product selection in the country, but it will also position itself as one of the country’s leading EV brands. Furthermore, the success of the BYD Seal could be critical for the country’s automobile.
