Maruti Suzuki introduced the much-anticipated 5-door Jimny at the 2023 Auto Expo. Bookings for the off-roader have been taking place since its appearance at the Expo on January 12, and Maruti has already received over 15,000 reservations for the Jimny.

The Jimny 5-door is scheduled to go on sale in May of this year through Maruti’s Nexa dealerships. Maruti Suzuki is likely to prioritise manufacture of the higher Alpha model, which is available in four configurations
Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door powertrain
The Jimny 5-door is powered by a 105hp, 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine mated to a conventional 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. In terms of off-road capability, the Jimny features Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system with a manual transfer case and a low-range transmission with ‘2WD-high,’ ‘4WD-high,’ and ‘4WD-low’ modes. The Jimny is also supported by a tough ladder-frame chassis.
Variant and Features
The Jimny is available in only two trim levels: Zeta and Alpha, with the latter adding auto headlights, SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, and Arkayms sound system. Maruti Suzuki, on the other hand, includes a suite of safety features as standard, including six airbags and hill-hold assist. A complete feature breakdown may be found here.
Expected Price of Maruti suzuki Jimny
Maruti Suzuki is expected to price the Jimny at Rs 12 lakh and it is likely to go on sale in May 2023. While at launch, it will have no direct rivals, but Mahindra and Force are also developing 5-door iterations of the Thar and Gurkha, respectively.
